After my aunt passed away from Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) Syndrome when I was in middle school, I felt empowered to continue honoring her legacy in the community she loved. She was an avid dreamer who held hope and kindness in her heart to the very end. Although I held the first Festival of Hope in middle school, I continued this event annually until my second year of college when I had to leave town for a summer internship. This was my first ever event coordination project, and its successful results encouraged me to continue pursuing similar opportunities to get involved in event planning after the final event in 2023.
